OMG UBER ICE CREAM!

Remember when you were a kid and you heard that magical ice cream truck jingle coming down the street? It was the best moment of any summer afternoon. You’d push your little brother out of the way and run inside the house screaming “MOM! THE ICE CREAM TRUCK IS COMING! THE ICE CREAM TRUCK IS COMING!”

It was very much like this:

There was just something awesome about that moment. As an adult, the ice cream truck has become the food trucks that line the streets of DC. Instead of pushing our siblings out of the way, we’re tossing interns aside and running out to Farragut Square for cupcakes and tacos.

Thanks to Uber the ice cream truck is back.

Starting today, in honor of National Ice Cream Month, Uber is rolling out ice cream trucks in major cities, including DC. The system is simple, you request the ice cream truck the same way you request a car. Open the app, click the ice cream cone icon, choose your location and wait patiently for the delicious ice cream that is on it’s way.

The trucks will be available in Friendship Heights, Bethesda, Georgetown, Dupont, Farragut, Downtown, Capitol Hill, U Street, and Arlington from 12 PM to 5 PM. Rumor has it they’ll have Klondike bars which means you can put your interns to the “What would you do for a Klondike bar?” test. Swag will include tank tops (so you can pull a “suns out, guns out” while you eat your ice cream) and stickers.

If you haven’t signed up for Uber, do so at Uber.com or download the app. Use promocode SUZIEROBB for $10 off your first ride. Don’t forget to follow Uber on Twitter.
