Where to Meet Women: CoCo Sala

Several months ago, I went on a girl-date. Yes, I do have a few female friends and occasionally have dinner with them one on one to offer dating advice, which they probably won’t follow, and then we get drunk and flirt with strangers. It doesn’t happen often. We grabbed dinner at Graffiato, which is easily one of my favorite places in the city. My date was running about 20 minutes late, so I grabbed a drink at the bar while I waited. Two guys seated next to me began chatting me up and asked where they should spend their Friday night. I asked them what type of mood they were in, what neighborhood they preferred, if they wanted live music, if they like dive bars or trendy lounges…after several shrugs, confused looks and awkward pauses, one of them blurted out, “We just want to meet women.”

I had the perfect spot: CoCo Sala.

The few times I’ve gone out for “girls night” we have started the night here. Women love CoCo Sala. Why? For one, the entire drink menu is chocolate based. You can get drunk off chocolate. Literally. Plus, the menu is all small plates, so women don’t feel like they’re cheating on their diets because the portions are so tiny…even if you order two or three things. Finally, the service is amazing. The staff treats you like you are the most amazing woman to ever walk into their establishment. What woman wouldn’t love that?

Men are missing out on a slew of single, available, hungry women by not going here. The bar is packed full of women out for a girls night, during which women ALWAYS hope to get hit on, preferably more than their slightly better looking friend. They’re all either celebrating a personal achievement, getting over a breakup or catching up on gossip. They are pounding chocolate martinis, eye-balling the attractive male bartender and hoping single men will at some point walk through the door so they don’t have to hear that one friend tell the story about the cute thing her cat did one more fucking time. (We don’t care if your cat sleeps in the sink. THEY ALL DO THAT. THEY’RE CATS.)

Men, while plotting out your weekend, add CoCo Sala to the list. They have things for you too, like bacon mac & cheese that comes with a piece of chocolate covered bacon on top, lamb burgers and a fairly respectable scotch and bourbon list. Plus, it’s located on F and 10th, so if you are striking out, you can bail and go do Irish Car Bombs at Fado.

(This also happens to be my favorite date spot. If you ask me on a date, I will secretly this is where we end up.)

Cheers!
